CRED penetration here is modelled. The percentages on the treemap and the persona cards are estimates until CRED’s own cohort figures are loaded. Upload actual data.

Treemap

The cardholder base by persona

modeled

Why three personas read 0%. Virgin prime, lapsed prime and credit-graduated are defined by not being active on CRED — never installed, lapsed, or rejected at the gate. The 0% is the definition of the group, not a measurement that nobody in it has ever opened the app. In practice a small tail of each sits in CRED’s dormant base; a realistic range is 0–4% until cohort totals confirm it.

Why it mattersColour is CRED penetration: the two biggest blocks are also the two emptiest.

Targetability

Low hanging, difficult, impossible, useless

Low hanging

Go now

6.3M

34% of the addressable base

Active, 750+, already paying a card bill inside a bank app or UPI app, not on CRED

They already do the behaviour CRED monetises — they just do it somewhere else. No habit to create, only a switch to earn.

Cost to win · Low

Bill-pay switch: match the bank app on speed, beat it on reward

Difficult

Worth a plan

7.7M

41% of the addressable base

Active and prime but tier 2/3, single-card, low engagement, or loyal to a rival rewards app

Reachable but expensive: weaker reward maths, fewer trigger moments, and a competitor already holding the habit.

Cost to win · Medium

Co-brand and vernacular creative; lead with savings, not status

Impossible for now

Park it

10.4M

18% of all cardholders

Sub-prime scores, closed co-brand loops, corporate and add-on cards

Either CRED cannot underwrite the reward economics, or the card lives inside a walled partner app the member never leaves.

Cost to win · High

Revisit when score improves or the co-brand contract lapses

Useless to chase

Ignore

37.7M

31% of all cards in force

Dormant cards, duplicate cards on the same person, inactive corporate plastic

These inflate the RBI card count and nothing else. Counting them is how a 121M number becomes a fantasy.

Cost to win · N/A

Remove from the denominator, permanently

Why it mattersOnly 6.3M people are genuinely low hanging. Planning against 52M is planning against a number that does not exist.

Why it matters24.0M people are prime by score and carry no credit card at all. They are invisible in RBI card data and absent from every plan on this map.
