What is CRED running right now, and is it any good?

Every campaign below is one anyone can see in Meta's and Google's public ad libraries. We score the craft, not the results.

Read this first. We do not have CRED’s ad accounts, so there is no spend, reach, click or conversion data here and none of it can be inferred. What follows is a craft critique of publicly visible creative: the offer, who it speaks to, the proof it carries, the ask, and whether the landing page keeps the promise. Treat every verdict as an informed opinion, not a measurement.

CRED UPI — Rs 100 on 5 payments

Video, 5 variants · aimed at New-to-CRED UPI payer · running since ~Jul 2026

3.4/5

Offer: Rs 100 cashback after five UPI payments

Creative: Offer-first banner opening, clean app-interface screen recording, benefit-forward rather than personality-led.

Lands on: App store install page

Verdict. Strong offer, weak fit — a Rs 100 UPI bribe recruits a payments user, not a prime cardholder. Install-to-card-bill conversion is the number nobody is watching.

Fix. Split the campaign: keep the UPI offer for acquisition volume, and run a separate card-bill creative to the 750+ audience. Land card-bill traffic on a card-bill page, not a generic install.

Card bill pay — flat Rs 50 sign-up bonus

Static offer-first banner · aimed at Existing cardholder, any score · running since ~Jun 2026

3.0/5

Offer: Rs 50 on first card bill paid

Creative: The core product, sold at the cheapest possible price point. No reward-ladder or member-status framing.

Lands on: App store install page

Verdict. Prices the flagship behaviour at Rs 50. It buys a first payment, not a habit, and it trains the market to value CRED at the bonus.

Fix. Move from cash bonus to demonstrated annual value — show what a Rs 60k monthly spender earns in a year. Cash is the acquisition floor, not the message.

Biometric UPI — fingerprint and face films

Humour film, celebrity-adjacent · aimed at Broad, culture-first · running since Jul 2026

2.0/5

Offer: No offer — feature awareness

Creative: Moonshot-made absurdist films for pay-by-fingerprint and pay-by-face. Signature deadpan CRED style.

Lands on: Brand site / app store

Verdict. Excellent brand film, poor performance asset. No offer, no proof, no segment, and it is a UPI feature — it does not move the card-bill business at all.

Fix. Keep it as brand at the top, but cut 6-second performance variants with an actual card-bill proposition and a card-bill landing page.

Utility bill payments

Screen recording + headline · aimed at Tier 2 / single-card saver · running since ~Jun 2026

3.2/5

Offer: Cashback on utility bills

Creative: Feature education, app-fatigue framing: one hub for all bills.

Lands on: App store install page

Verdict. The one campaign genuinely aimed at the difficult tier. Under-invested relative to the UPI push.

Fix. Scale it, and run it in vernacular for tier 2 and 3. Lead with rupees saved per month, not with consolidation.

CIBIL score check

Screen recording · aimed at Credit-curious, 750+ aspirant · running since ~May 2026

3.2/5

Offer: Free credit score

Creative: Feature education, low-friction entry point.

Lands on: App store install page

Verdict. The best doorway to the 750+ no-card universe — and it dead-ends into a generic install with no next step.

Fix. Make it a two-step funnel: score check, then a card recommendation for the no-card prime pool. This is the only live asset that speaks to a non-cardholder.

Brand search — "cred app", "cred login"

Search text ads · aimed at Existing members · running since Ongoing

3.4/5

Offer: None

Creative: Defensive brand terms.

Lands on: App / login

Verdict. Necessary and cheap, but it is retention spend being counted as acquisition.

Fix. Report brand search separately. Judge acquisition only on non-brand.

Non-brand — "credit card bill payment online"

Search text ads · aimed at High-intent bill payer · running since Ongoing

3.6/5

Offer: Cashback on card bill

Creative: Generic category copy competing with every bank and wallet.

Lands on: Card-bill landing page

Verdict. Highest-intent inventory in the account and the creative says nothing a bank app cannot say.

Fix. Say the one thing a bank app cannot: rewards across every card in one place. Add reward proof to the ad and the landing page.

YouTube — IPL-era humour films

Video, 15s and 30s cuts · aimed at Broad, culture-first · running since Seasonal

1.8/5

Offer: None

Creative: Shares creative with the Meta brand films.

Lands on: Brand site

Verdict. Fintech humour has converged — CRED, Slice, Jupiter and super.money now sound the same, so the differentiation this once bought has eroded.

Fix. Spend the differentiation budget on proof instead of tone: real member reward totals, real issuer coverage, real speed.

Why it mattersThe pattern across the book: strong distinctiveness, weak specificity. Most films earn attention and then ask for nothing in particular.
